Microsoft Office, or simply Office, is the former name of a family of client softwareserver software, and services developed by Microsoft. It was first announced by Bill Gates on August 1, 1988, at COMDEX in Las Vegas. Initially a marketing term for an office suite (bundled set of productivity applications), the first version of Office contained Microsoft WordMicrosoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Over the years, Office applications have grown substantially closer with shared features such as a common spell checker, Object Linking and Embedding data integration and Visual Basic for Applications scripting language. Microsoft also positions Office as a development platform for line-of-business software under the Office Business Applications brand.

Customize the save experience in Office

    ⭐customize your experience when saving a new file via CTRL+S or pressing the Save button in the Quick Access Toolbar

 

✨Usually use the cloud, but sometimes need to save locally?

When you want to save locally use Save As instead, which, as before, triggers the legacy save dialog. You can easily add Save As to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) or use the F12 keyboard shortcut.

Or, via File Options Save, you can check “Save to Computer by default” and set “Default local file location” to the desired location.

  1. Click the File tab, and then click Options.

  2. Click Save.

  3. In the first section, type the path in the Default local file location box
